Bearcat Hospitality

The Bearcat Athletic Department entertained the principals, counselors, and staff with a Christmas breakfast Friday, December 19, in the conference room of the athletic department.  We want to thank all the personnel who make our athletic department work smoothly and support our program here at Sherman High.

Sherman Boys finish 2nd in 12th Annual Sherman Holiday Invitational

The Sherman Varsity Boys Basketball Team finished 2nd in the Sherman Holiday Invitational. They fell 63-62 to 6A McKinney Boyd in the tournament finals. The Bearcats were led by senior Dequan Howard in the title game.  He scored 20 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and had 2 blocks in the tournament finale.  (See Jan. 14 photo

Fall Athletic Banquet

Bearcat Goal – Bigger, Stronger, Faster

Fred Douglass 1964 State Champions

A very special group of men were recognized at half-time of the Sherman – McKinney North football game recently.  In 1964, the Fred Douglass Panthers advanced to the finals of the Prairie View Interscholastic League and won the state championship by defeating Conroe High School 32-18.  This is the 50th anniversary of that remarkable feat

SHS Gator Patrol

The 2014 John Deere is a new addition to the Sports Medicine Team.  The Gator will be used to transport equipment before and after ALL competitions at Bearcat Stadium.  This was previously accomplished by student athletic trainers manually carrying everything.  In addition, we now have a way to remove an injured athlete from the field

New Bearcat Weight Equipment

A new and much needed addition to the Bearcat athletic program has just been completed and will soon be in use by all the Sherman High athletes.  The new weight room equipment is state of the art and replaces the older machines that were becoming a safety issue as well as being limited in use

Cross Country Competes Hard at District Meet

On Tuesday, October 21st, the Sherman Cross Country team competed in the division 10-5A District Championships at Myers Park in McKinney.  The meet pitted our Bearcats against some of the most challenging 5A competition in the state, including last year’s state runner-up.
